All classes are offered free of charge and are taught by professionally trained music instructors.
Jazz Lab with Owen James 5:30 to 6:30 pm
Tuesday, April 1st through Tuesday, May 20th
An introductory ensemble for middle school and high school students. Students in the Lab Band will learn the basics of jazz—and its precursor, the Blues—exploring improvisation through the introduction of scales, chords, and elements of style. Basic note reading and at least one year of experience on your chosen instrument preferred.
Jazz Combo with Owen James 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Tuesday, April 1st through Tuesday, May 20th
Combo members will improve their playing ability, develop their solo improvisational skills and expand their knowledge of music theory and jazz harmony. Performance opportunities will be offered at the end of the session. This is an intermediate to advanced class, for high school age students and up. All instruments are welcome.
Rock Jam with Chris Koury
Mondays, January 13 through April 21, 3:30-5 pm
This course will focus on learning, rehearsing, and performing rock music in a group setting. Open to students aged 12-18. Basic knowledge and skill on your chosen instrument preferred.
Beginning Ukulele with Chris Koury
Mondays, September 23 through December 16, 6-7 pm
This course will focus on beginning ukulele skills, learning a few basic chords, strumming techniques, and playing along with others. Open to students aged 12-18. No prior experience necessary.
Songwriting 101
January — March (dates TBD) 8-week program, once weekly for 90 minutes.
This beginning course will focus on songwriting basics, structure, form, and will cover several genres. Open to ages twelve and up. Basic proficiency on an instrument is preferred, but not necessary (vocalists welcomed).
